Day 4 Travel Home Thu Oct 2 2014

Just a few pics of our trip home. Tried to capture the beautiful fall colors of PA.

Some cool bridges too. Most of the time we were going by way to fast to either pull the camera out or to capture the moment even with the camera ready.

Oh well.

We sure had a great time!

Thanks for visiting, I love the comments. Please do.

That's it.

The END!

Day 3 DC Wed Oct 1 2014

Our last day in DC.

It's been a great trip. Tomorrow we'll head out for home. Enjoy these parting shots of DC.

We loved the intricate details of this building.

So what's the building? See next pic...

There's my honey standing at the back of the Capital Building.

Supreme Court Building - the halls of justice.

Next stop. The museum of natural history.
I wish I would've taken a picture, but the first sign you saw?
This is all about evolution and everything you see will
support the evidence that we evolved from pond scum.
Well, it didn't say it in those exact words.

Love those trains. Any kind of trains. As you will see :)

Taking in the conversation.

Even Jan loves those trains?

Follow the 66 Route. It originates in Chicago.

Love those models.

I liked the 3D image

The Holocaust Museum - very somber.
The quote on the black marble wall?
See below...

One of the gardens on my way to revisit MLK Memorial

After we returned home from the Twilight tour we didn't have a taxi to take back to the motel.
This became a very meaningful quote. So I went back to take a picture of it.

The gap in the top picture is where Martin Luther King Jr. came from.
Hope from the rock.

That's it. We're heading to King St.-Old Town for dinner and then
we'll be heading out for home first thing in the morning.

Day 2 DC Tue Sep 30 2014

Just three more pages to do and then our vacation blog will be complete.
Sometimes life gets in the way of doing stuff we'd like to do.
But patience is a wonderful thing if you look at it the right way.

Here's more on our vacation to DC

Our first picture on the mall.
We're on our way to the air & space museum.

We wanted to take a couple of pictures here because of our connection with Ed Albers and American Airlines.

Jan said, "I should be the one standing next to the flight attendant.
I couldn't agree more as you will see in the next picture.

Much better :)

Jan inside the command center of an aircraft carrier - flash on.

Jan inside the command center of an aircraft carrier - flash off.

Love the models! Interesting facts, but none that I remember.

This side of the museum held aircraft stuff.

The other side of the museum held space stuff.
These two shots turned out kinda neat, uh?

I took a picture of a picture. I liked the birds-eye view of the mall.

End of air and space museum. You could spend all day there if you wanted.

Isn't she lovely?

Such a cute couple.

Which would you choose between this one and the one below?

Can you find what's different in each picture?

No pictures inside the Archives Museum, but I did take a couple of pics outside.

This is the sculpture garden just opposite the Archives Museum.

Huge eraser for all those mistakes we've made.

This shot was taken before we went into the Archive Museum.

This shot was taken after the Archive Museum. Can you tell what has changed?

Break time. At the Sculpture Garden Cafe.

Walking down the street looking for the aquarium.

Washington Monument

Looking towards Lincoln Memorial

Looking towards the White House. Notice the pretty lady sitting on the bench?

Looking up toward the sky of the Washington Monument

Lincoln Memorial - zoom in.

Capital Building in the background.

Lincoln was a great president. Loved these words.

That's the Potomac. You cross over to Arlington Cemetery from here.

Korean War Memorial

World War II memorial. Jan standing by "Illinois"

The White House Pennsylvania entrance which is really the front entrance.

Twilight tour. Very informative. Our guide was from Naperville IL

DC Union Station.

Tried to take a still shot while in motion. Didn't work too well.

Kinda neat to see Abe Lincoln at night.

Jefferson Memorial - did not visit.

Franklin Roosevelt Exhibit.

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.
I come back later the next day to capture some of the quotes.

Last stop on the Twilight tour. Lincoln Memorial.

Drive by - Marines at Hiroshima

Metro back home after a long great day!
